Nottingham City Regatta is one of the early Regattas in the racing calendar for rowers to judge how their winter training has paid off.
For Ardingly Rowing Club last weekend the evidence was that all is well.
Our two 17 year olds‚ Jake and Billy, blasted through their Novice Double Scull final to win by 13 seconds
over their nearest competitors and were over 1.5 minutes faster than the slowest crew in their final.
This is a huge achievement for the boys‚ and sets them up well for a summer of competition which will include the prestigious National Schools’ Regatta next week and may see them aiming for Henley Royal Regatta.
Their Club-mates in the Men’s coxless 4 won their heat convincingly but finished 2nd in their final.
They are pleased with the performance but realise that there is more speed to be found before Henley.
Men‚s squad Coach‚ Mostyn Field‚ is proud that 4 sweep oarsmen (one oar each) and 4 scullers (2 oars each) from his squad have lost their novice status within 7 days.
This weekend the Women take to the water at Weybridge Ladies Regatta we’re hoping to have great things to report from them next week!
