Sadly no medals for us this year but some fantastic racing and two lovely days in a field with friends racing hard and talking about rowing.
Our Women's E4x (Carol, Charlene, Kay and Claudia) were the first to race - beaten by the giants of Strathclyde Park / MAA composite fresh from their success at Euro Masters. This was Kay's first ever regatta and we're trying to persuade her that other local events are just the same degree of fun!
The G4x intimidated their NZ oppo off the start and surprised themselves with a win into the semis, they won their semi against Marlow and faced some tough international oppo in the final which they lost but were pleased with their row.
Our B1x sculler, Dmitry, was off games with a bad back and had to withdraw.
Our WC 4- were beaten in the semi finals as was our Men's D2- and our Men's E2x
Our D4x with Medway Towns (and London replacing Spitfire due to Covid) made it to the final but were beaten by the host club.
Our WB2x of Esther and Maja blasted through their semi final and met Bewl Bridge in the final giving them a good race but finishing in 2nd place. The BB coach has sent them some video and there may be some collaboration opportunities out of this.
All in all, a good weekend but no medals. On to Staines Regatta. Photo shows Maja and Esther leading in their semi-final
