We sent three crews to the Vesta International Masters Head of the River along the Tideway Championship course on Sunday. Despite having no eights of our own, nor any lake-based coxes, (nor even as it transpired 27 fit and healthy rowers over the age of 27), we did well and had a successful day. There were 217 crews racing - from GB, Ireland, France, Germany, Belgium and more.
Our Open Masters F8+ (Pete, Iestyn (sub from Thames), Slavo, David C, Steve, Mick, Jon C, David P coxed by Lydia) finished 4th in their category and 54th overall in a time of 19.52.
Our Mixed Masters D8+ (Paul, Guy, Brian, Alex and 4 women from Monmouth RC coxed by their Cardiff Met Uni cox) finished 8th in their category and 107th overall in a time of 20.43.54
Our Women's Masters D8+ (Ursula, Lucy (sub from Milton Keynes), Anne (sub from Maidstone Invicta), Charlene, Carol, Judy, Claudia, Maja coxed by Anna) finished 7th in their category and 170th overall in a time of 22.25
Thank you to everyone who made this possible.
And now we have just one more Head Race entry - for Abingdon Head - before Regatta season commences!
