Due to Lake erosion and upheaval we are struggling to be able to welcome new Members. We have a a waiting list for new rowers (who must be aged 13+, able to swim competently and have a good general level of fitness) but you should contact us if you are already competent at sculling or want to go on the waiting list for any future open days which will not be until Easter 2025. The Club relies totally on volunteers who run it alongside their own rowing, work and family lives. We have no paid coaching or admin support. The rights for water usage at Ardingly Reservoir are currently in the process of being sold so our future is uncertain.
Welcome to the Ardingly Rowing Club website.
These pages contain useful information about the club for visitors and members alike. If your questions are not answered on the site, please contact us by using the email address above in the first instance, and we will do our best to answer you.
We would like to take this opportunity to remind you we offer
Friend of Ardingly RC Membership for just £30 per year (no water access, simply a valued supporter of the Club).
The rowing club is relatively young (
29th anniversary this year) and offers rowing for all ages from 13+ and experience levels, competing at local, national and international events throughout the year. We also cater for individuals who wish to take a more leisurely approach to rowing and just enjoy the sport at their own pace.
We are a Club run by and for its Members, you are expected to join in with at least some Club activities - such as maintenance, fundraising, coaching beginners, launch driving, management committee. All our coaching and admin work is done by volunteers.
We are based at Ardingly Reservoir in the heart of the beautiful Mid Sussex countryside, a wonderfully tranquil spot, roughly midway between Gatwick Airport and Brighton.
Ardingly Rowing Club and its Members stand together with the rowing community against racial inequality and racism. It is no longer enough to be open to all and not be racist; it's time for us to be actively anti-racist. It will take time for rowing to become more diverse and inclusive, but our Club continues to be committed to supporting the pursuit of equality of opportunity to participate.
