JOIN

Our members have taken up or returned to the sport at all ages, from 13 to 70+, and we will endeavour to support anyone interested in learning to row or joining our club as an experienced athlete.

RETURN TO ROW

We have welcomed many experienced rowers, coxes and coaches back to the sport, often after gaps of more than twenty years.

Our squads give a great framework for rediscovering technique and rowing fitness, and a route to either racing or simply enjoying being back on the water.

Please contact ardinglyrcmembership@gmail.com if you are interested in joining the club.

LEARN TO ROW

Each year we run a number of Learn to Row courses, open to both adults and juniors. Run over a weekend, these are the ideal way to try the sport. This is then followed by a twelve-week development course, to prepare you for confident crew rowing and single sculling.

Adult and junior members who have learnt to row at Ardingly have raced and won at national and international competitions.

Please contact ardinglyrcmembership@gmail.com if you are interested in taking up rowing.

BENEFITS OF ROWING

Learn a new skill

From balancing the boat to mastering blade work, rowing builds focus and confidence.

Physical health

Rowing is a full-body workout that strengthens heart, lungs, and muscles.

Mental reset

For an hour, you're focused on timing and technique, away from everyday stresses.

Fresh air and nature

Time on the water provides a sense of freedom and connection to the outdoors.

Mobility and flexibility

The controlled movement improves posture and supports long-term mobility.

Community and teamwork

As a crew, or in a squad, rowing fosters friendships and shared achievements.

Our club is entirely funded by membership fees and donations. Current fees, and the cost of Learn to Row and Development courses will be sent to you by the membership secretary, on the email above.

Ardingly Rowing Club and its Members stand together with the rowing community against racial inequality and racism. It is no longer enough to be open to all and not be racist; it's time for us to be actively anti-racist. It will take time for rowing to become more diverse and inclusive, but our club continues to be committed to supporting the pursuit of equality of opportunity to participate.
