The 2021 British Rowing Indoor Champs (BRIC) was held virtually to keep all competitors safe but Wolfgang managed to coordinate the Ardingly rowers at Ardingly College and we thank them for hosting and him for managing the whole day.
We had 40 Juniors competing including our whole squad plus the Ardingly College and Hurst College weekday rowers, and a good number from our Sussex Uni rowers.
Our Juniors came away with four bronze medals - all for our Ardingly College / ARC rowers. Will T won bronze in Yr 10 Boys 5 mins row AND the 500m sprint, and Gus in the Yr 9 Boys 500m sprint, and Noah in the Year 11 Sprint. The boys relay team very narrowly missed out on a bronze. Will M finished 5th in a very strong field. Santi, Daniel, Emily, Annunciata, and Miri - all of whom started rowing this summer - all finished in the top 10 for their age groups with Kate and Tom not far behind.
Jack was our only Senior rower racing and finished 9th ... Jack started rowing on the water this Autumn and only then received some coaching on erg technique (he was self-taught before then). There's more to come from him.
Our Sussex Uni rowers came away with 5 medals. Martha won bronze in Womens U23 2k, their Women's 4 x 1000m relay team of Lara, Anna C, Beth and Elsa won bronze, the men's relay team of Jago, Jordan, Blessing and Oscar C won bronze, Jago won silver in U23 mens 2k, and Oscar BH won Gold in Mens U23 Lwt 2k.
Well done all who raced - and especially all who came away with a PB and / or a medal.
